1. January – Websense (WBSN) acquires Defensio.
2. May – Verisign spins off Managed Security (Guardent) business unit to SecureWorks.

Most, if not all of these deals were low value transactions. Some distressed fire sales, others suffering from investor fatigue. And there will be a bunch more this year, and things gradually improve economically, but not fast enough to make a difference for some companies.

I take it the second column is the buyer, and the third column is the seller?

I thought Certicom got picked up by RIM, not Verisign.
