I really don’t understand why headlines like these exist: Insider Behind Foiled Hacker Heist when the jist of the story is complete speculation. I would suggest that you read it, but you should be able to come up with theories that are just as good (if you are a security professional).

I confess that I have, on occasion, dabbled in speculation about how compromises occurred as well. I think it is human nature to want to know. But I don’t see how you can base an entire article on it.
