Gates in Davos

Bill Gates began his keynote at RSA the other day with a hilarious anecdote about a meeting he had in Davos that included Gates, Prime Minister Tony Blair, and (as I found out later) Bono.

Apparently, someone with connections to the British press found some doodles that were believed to be from Mr. Blair. The press had a field day as "graphologists" performed personality analyses of the doodles. (More on the specifics are here.)

Well, it turns out the doodles were actually from Bill Gates. So Mr. Gates highlighted some of the "specific entries" that were on the doodle sheet during his keynote.

So I brought them [the doodle notes] here. These are the actual notes that I mistakenly left behind, so I can show you some of the things that are on here: Remind Melinda to record "24"; why does Bill Clinton get to sit next to Angelina Jolie? (laughter) I’m hungry. And perhaps worst of all, I’ve got my new password up there. (Laughter.)

Okay, okay – so maybe you had to be there. Trust me, it was pretty funny how he presented it. Anyway, I was curious how much of this Johnny Carson-like story was made up and did a little research. Enjoy.
