PC World had an article the other day about security vendors "tricking" Microsoft’s XP SP2. The nut of it is that some vendors wait until after the first update before providing information to SP2. No big deal – usability issue during installation. The only interesting point was the idea that an antivirus solution could be spoofed when communicating with SP2. As with any solution that accepts external inputs, there must be some system to protect this. Not sure how SP2 does it.
