Well, it is that time of year again and I thought I would give out my awards for the top 5 information security blogs on the Internet.
Here they are:
- Overcoming Bias – an excellent source of inspiration for folks seeking to understand the motivations of people in pursuit of some notion of objectivity.
- EconLog – subprime mortgages, irrational voters, Dexter on Showtime, and health care are only a few topics covered by this blog.
- Marginal Revolution – same as above. (Okay, I am a sucker for economics blogs, I suppose).
- Statistical Modeling, Causal Inference, and Social Science – All things statistical and more.
- Psyblog – I am going out on a limb here, since this is a new one for me. So far, I am enjoying the heck out of it.
So, there you have it.
What’s that you say? These aren’t security blogs? Sure they are, they just require a broader interpretation of what security professionals need most — guidance on economics, psychology, and statistical analysis.
But what about the more directly-related security blogs? Well, there are some interesting candidates but also plenty of room for improvement all around. We’ll get there, but we’re not there.
In my opinion you are missing one of the best security blogs out there, Bruce Schneier’s. It is slightly different than the others listed, but simple amazing information.

Schneier’s newsletter was much better. As far as I can tell, the blog is more like a link-blog with pointers elsewhere and very little analysis.
