No Aluminum Underwear-ing in Colorado

I was paging through this month’s ISSA Journal and saw an article on RFID Security. Since it is a topic of interest, I took a closer look. Anyway, the article mentioned that Colorado has banned aluminum underwear. I thought this was pretty bizarre, but essentially it is true – of course, they call it a "theft detection shielding device." Don’t know how I could have missed this one.

Update: In response to Kurt’s comment below (thanks, Kurt!), I corrected my nomenclature mistake and did a Google search. Wow. It seems that many states (WV, AZ, NH, WY, etc..) are  adopting some form of underwear protection ;-) .

must resist joke about wearing foil hat on the wrong head…

the document you’re currently linking to seems to actually call it a “theft detection shielding device”, by the way, not a ‘threat shielding device’… to that end a google search suggests colorado isn’t the only place with laws about this sort of thing…

    Passport Shields Considered Illegal

How long will it be before someone walks out of a store with a toll card protector
and a passport cover in their pocket, and are arrested for intent to steal
because they had multiple “theft detection shielding devices” on their person?
