The Department of Homeland Security has a mole:
"The department said Purdy consulted with ethics lawyers when he signed his employment contract. Purdy is so careful about avoiding potential conflicts that he leaves the room when employees discuss contracts related to Carnegie Mellon’s work, said one DHS official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because this official is not authorized to speak with reporters."
I wonder if "this official" who is "not authorized to speak with reporters" consulted with ethics lawyers before s/he leaked. Well, thank goodness this person leaked anonymously so we can launch a complete investigation into his/her identity. I wonder if the reporter is even mildly disconcerted by the fact that the DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY is so ready to leak information when they presumably have decided that policies don’t apply to them under circumstances they deem useful. (Btw, the leak is a woman – anyone know people at DHS?)
A simple, successful social engineering attack. (I can only hope it’s a human honeypot duping a reporter).
