i’m only guessing at what your answer is but i would say that it does absolutely nothing to reduce the risk of identity theft… the genie is out of the bottle and you can’t put it back in – there’s no way to know for sure whether or not copies were made so just because the hardware was recovered doesn’t mean the secrets stored on it can be made secret again…
I agree with Kurt on your answer, but not based on his reasons. I say, because of your original interpretation of the event, that you don’t think it went up much. And you would probably say that even if it was known the information was copied and distributed.
