Memento vs. Gattaca

On the Memento side of the house, we have no prior knowledge of a person and reinvent the wheel every day. We can only rely only on instinct and the information presented as it happens.

On the Gattaca side of the house, we have DNA manipulation, strong identity, and complete knowledge about an individual, but we also know it is possible to evade the controls in place.

Definitely not an easy choice (and an imperfect analogy). Sorry – if you are asking what is the point, there really isn’t one except to highlight the paradoxes involved in identity and person-actions.

I wouldn’t, and don’t, want either situation, but I’ll take both movies ;-)

    Both were good movies.

But I don’t advocate complete knowledge of any individual, I am for individual control of release of whatever knowledge a person chooses (real privacy). But as you aptly point out misrepresenting yourself in certain cases is dangerous hence the occaisional need for strong proof.

In fact I think the two sides can be reconciled and am trying to take one more shot at it on Adam’s site. (National ID) And if either of you think I am belabouring this point then I’ll desist.

None that I am personally aware of, but I have never used an iPhone or iTouch. I did a Google search for iPhone wifi and came up with these good tipshttp://iphonenow.info/edge-wifi-use-on-your-iphone-how-and-why/ that might help you out.
