Bugmenot provides some sort of generic user account for people who don’t want to participate in requests for user information from subscription-based (but free) websites.

The only reason I am interested in this is because it has apparently become polite in the Blogosphere to notify readers whether an external site requires registration or not. I don’t normally recall whether I signed up or not.

It occurred to me recently that I should remind folks that Bugmenot is a free-rider service that indirectly may affect our own pocketbook. So feel free to either register or not avail yourself of the services these sites offer. Thanks
