Hacked Database Linked To Visiting Scholar
Apparently, Candace Howes is the culprit, or at least her computer is, that gained access to a database of the names and social security numbers for 600,000 Californians.
Estimated impact: privacy loss and identity theft potential for the 600,000. This is a good example where “just-in-time” security through on-access scanning and quarantining would have been useful.
