The Guardian, a UK newspaper, had their website hacked for promoting a project of theirs that had foreign individuals writing to Clark County, Ohio voters and urging them to vote against President Bush. They were also deluged by spam.

Estimated impact: the entire U.S. Presidential election hangs in the balance. Or not. Of course, it is always interesting to highlight that voter registration information is publicly available, if you want to find it.
