Old News but Interesting

Here is a new story about an old case that involves an electrician who apparently used a device to find circuit breakers by crossing wires to trip them. Perhaps no big deal, except this was at the Federal Reserve Bank of NY and the circuits being broken also powered the security for the vault.

This case reminds me of the yearning many security professionals have to pull a plug or write a virus to prove a point.

"What I did was in good faith. I did not do anything malicious," added the licensed electrician, who has since found a new job. "What do they think I’m going to do, sabotage it?"

Um, well, yes, actually. That is the unfortunate part of our business – that actions speak louder than words and relationships.
